Conversations with Model Blair Griffith
I recently had the chance to sit down with Blair Griffith, an amazing model and actor based here in Philly. Getting to chat with her was a real treat, and I wanted to share a few takeaways from our conversation.
Blair's journey into modeling started young, encouraged by her dad, and took her through competitions and pageants before she eventually made her way to Philadelphia and got signed. It's inspiring to see how she built her career.
We talked a lot about the different sides of modeling, particularly on-air modeling versus e-commerce or print. Blair highlighted that while e-commerce is really focused on showcasing the clothes, on-air allows for a unique blend of modeling and showing your personality. She sees it as a "sweet space" where being yourself really pays off, mentioning that she learned over time that showing her personality actually led to booking more jobs. It's a great reminder that authenticity can be a powerful tool in this industry.
We also touched on the reality of a live TV schedule, which, as she described, can be pretty intense compared to a typical nine-to-five shoot day. Working late nights and early mornings isn't uncommon, showing the dedication required.
One thing that really stood out to me, and something I've seen firsthand since our first meeting, is Blair's professionalism. She attributes a lot of this to watching her dad work hard and instilling in her the importance of being prepared and respectful, treating modeling as a real job, which it absolutely is. Showing up ready, being on time, and researching the client are all part of her approach, and it clearly makes a difference.
Blair is truly inspiring herself, finding immense joy and energy from being in front of the camera and doing what she loves. It was a great conversation, full of genuine insights into the dedication and mindset needed to thrive in this industry for over a decade.
Until next time, Brandon
